Unveiled in 2018, the HomePod (1st generation) is Apple’s first smart speaker, delivering excellent sound quality in a compact format, but it has proven to be prone to numerous early failures. Increasing reports are also emerging of HomePod 2 units failing.
Apple does not offer any repairs. An official replacement costs €279.

The HomePod doesn’t power on.
The HomePod suddenly shut down. It no longer responds to touch inputs or Hey Siri. You may feel a slight warmth at the base of the fabric near the power cable, or in some cases, intense heat on the touch surface.
Depending on the cause:
Diode replacement (98% of cases).
Power supply or other part replacement (2% of cases).
The HomePod makes a pop, a fart-like noise, or a repeated clicking sound.
The HomePod emits a dull noise or a loud pop after several minutes of inactivity, when waking it, or when unplugging it.
During playback, the HomePod may produce a crackling sound or a sudden fart-like noise and restart, or you may hear a repetitive clicking sound.

Replacement of capacitors and/or a resistor.
The HomePod volume buttons are blinking.
The volume buttons are blinking. The HomePod may also show a red or white light that spins indefinitely.
OS software restore from a Mac.
The software restore works only in about half of all cases. If it fails, the cause is hardware-related. A complete motherboard replacement fixes the issue, but we no longer have this part in stock. If this repair attempt fails, you only pay the shipping costs for sending and returning the device.
The HomePod 2 doesn't turn on.
The HomePod suddenly shut down. It no longer responds to touch inputs or Hey Siri.
Power supply replacement.
The HomePod 2 touch surface doesn’t work. Music plays on its own.
The HomePod 2 behaves erratically and seems to respond to ghost touches on the screen.

At FixPod, our top priority is to repair your HomePod and return it to you in perfect condition. We understand that sending us your device can be worrisome. To reassure you, we rely on our recognized experience and professionalism, with numerous press articles in France and abroad, as well as the satisfaction of our customers in France, Europe, and even Congo, who have trusted us and left positive reviews. We have no interest in compromising our reputation: your HomePod is in good hands and will be treated with the utmost care. Besides, we wouldn’t know what to do with so many HomePods on our hands!
We are not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage that may occur during transport. To keep our repair prices affordable, we use Mondial Relay, which includes a standard compensation of €25. This is the amount that will be refunded to you if your parcel is lost. Since 2021, only two devices sent to us have disappeared—out of several hundred HomePods in transit. The risk is minimal, but it does exist. If you want higher insurance coverage for your device, or wish to use a different carrier, the additional cost will be added to the final price.
FixPod was born after my own HomePod failed in 2021, which I decided to repair myself. FixPod is operated by the micro-enterprise Céladonie, run by me, Donovan Weber. Initially created in the Vosges region, Céladonie is now based in Lons-le-Saunier, in my native region, the Jura. I carry out these repairs in my personal time, alongside my regular job.
